Three Baby Chicks

Momma feeds her progeny
one beak at a time
shoulder to shoulder
on a slender limb
tail feathers in shudder mode
before each mouthful
of regurgitated seed
from a feeder -- lances deep
into one chick’s yawning
then darts away
hoping to quickly satisfy
the next feathery puff.
