Flame of Life

Flame of life
One night was spent in a Forest of Cherry trees,
Wandered next day through a deep valley,
Along a path covered by Autumn leaves
The evening was spent in a large Fir Wood,
`Neath a great tree , which wore in it`s branches,
The night , like dark flames in thick wild hair,
Here a fire was kindled while the great tree keptguard,
Immobile , silent , lit with a flame at the heart of it,
Like a Pagen God or an old Indian Chieftain ,
Assuming a savage beauty,
when the flames fluttered and fell,
While round about darkness reigned ,
like empty space eternity,
Yet within the flames created,
a circle all was mystery,
The flame a life in itself
Between darkness and burning light.
