(AN: for those of you wondering, Mrs. Wilson is my first period
teacher, and I have not tried this excuse on her...yet)
Why I was late to 1st period
On some lazy Thursday afternoon, Nora's locker and alarm clock met each
other over waffles at the Waffle House on Battleground Avenue. Nora's
two most important possessions had an issue to resolve.
"That Nora girl is always moving too fast!" Said the alarm clock while
munching on a Belgium waffle. The locker nodded.
"Yes, yes, we really need to figure out a way to slow down her pace. Do
you have any ideas?"
"Hmm, not off the top of my speaker. What about you?"
"Well, what if we hypnotize someone to close me just before Nora is
done putting her books away at the end of the day?"
"Nah, too difficult. Besides, I don't know any hypnotists. How about I
switch my snooze button and my alarm reset button around on random
days?"
"No, that'd be even harder. We'd have to get a mechanic or someone to
switch your buttons around." The red locker and the purple alarm clock
sulked over their waffles. After a few minutes, the locker raised his
silver door opener in thought. "I've got it! How about you turn off
your alarm and I won't open until the third time Nora enters her
combination! She'll wake up late AND she'll spend three times the time
she normally does at her locker!"
The alarm clock bounced up and down and flashed a few red digits in
excitement. "Yes! You're a genius! And we can have even more of her
time saving devices join us in our pursuit of making Nora late!"
"Yes yes yes! We'll start a society bend on making Nora late for
everything!" The locker and the alarm clock smiled to each other evilly
before going back to their waffles.

"And that's how the Let's Make Nora Later For Everything Society-LMNLFE
for short-was born. To date, the society contains over twenty members,
including Nora's computer, Nora's backpack, and Nora's shower. Their
goal of punctuating Nora's punctual life has, in fact, been realized.
That's why I'm late for class, Mrs. Wilson. " Nora finished her story
and gave a huge, cheesy smile to Mrs. Wilson, hoping that it would
further the chance that she'd get off free.
Mrs. Wilson didn't buy the story. Nora got stuck with a disciplinary
essay on why she will not blame inanimate objects for her own
faults.
