"CHRISTMAS PAST"
Snowman
I am that stately figure who stands out in the snow,
They say I can be splendid and some that I tend to glow,
I sometimes stand in the garden, or on the village green,
People stare, I'm so outstanding, the best they've ever seen.
An unwanted hat sits on my head, or maybe a golden crown,
The discarded coat about me, lays nearly on the ground
A coloured scarf thrown around my neck, looking so sublime,
The old broom stuck in my arm, which has seen a better time.
My face so bright; my eyes so dark, makes me look so regal,
I have a crescent shaped mouth to smile at all the people,
Among my many friends some are young and some are very old,
They all throw snowballs at me it helps to keep out the cold.
My closest friend the snow, has turned the other way,
The weather has changed now we are having rain today,
With tender loving hands, I'd been sculptured for all to see,
Now this dreadful thaw is here, there will be no more of me.
