COCKROACHES

he hurried away from the scene
dressed in black
not drawing attention to himself
while his victim lay in a pool of blood
drowning in her vital juices
the windows are now closing
the nucleus of her body
grinds to a
painful
halt

exterminated like a cockroach
no respectability in death
left sprawled out like a
soiled blanket

why has it come to this
a frenzy
fuelled by
drug madness?
unrequeited love
or greed
