Reminiscence Of Memory

“Nothing out of the ordinary here. I better finish my patrol around the village, its getting dark now”. I jumped from tree to tree going around the village. As I was jumping, I recalled my memory when I meet Rinoa, one of the guardians of the village called Sotoba Village. She’s a lady, with fox-like ears and tail. I first encountered her inside the forest, walking alone. Back then, I was a person who only knew one thing, kill. The first moment I saw Rinoa, I was overcomed by my powerful desire to kill her. But in the end, she defeated me and spared my life. I was confused. I asked her why she did not kill me when she had the chance.

      “Do I really need to do that?”, she said those words with a happy tone, as if she was not angry at me for trying to kill her. She laughed and then patted my head. “I know you’re a good person, and you will do something good to the world someday, but the path you are taking now is wrong. Come, follow me. I will show you the path that you should take”. She extended her hand towards me. I blindly took her hands, not knowing what would happen to me if I followed her. Along the way, she told me her name. “My name is Tamamo-No-Mae, but you can call me Rinoa. How about your name?”. I answered, “Alter”. Rinoa stopped walking and looked at me.

      “What a short name you have the Alter. How about your full name?”, she asked me with a warm smile on her face. “Saber Alter, but I like to be called Alter”. Without me noticing it, a smile appeared on my face as I was telling my name to Rinoa. “That’s a nice name, Alter”. After the conversation, We continued walking again. Finally, we both reached the front gate of a village. “This is Sotoba Village and I am one of the guardians here. I hope you will have a good time here”. As I entered the village, I noticed that all the people were staring at me, so I hid behind Rinoa’s back.

      After a couple of moments, we reached a place which looked like a big mansion. She invited me in and when I entered the mansion, I saw many portraits of her hanging on the wall, making me realized that she was the owner of the mansion. “Here have a cup of tea, Alter”. She poured the tea into a cup and then served it to me. I took the teacup from her and I drank the tea silently and politely. As I was sipping my tea, Rinoa speaked to me, “how about you becoming a guardian here at Sotoba Village?, I could really use some help from you here”.

      I agreed with her happily and here I am today, patrolling around the village. I finished my patrol an hour ago and along the way back, I was greeted by Rinoa. “How was your patrol?”, she asked me. I stated, “it went fine, nothing out of the ordinary that happened. Let’s go home Rinoa. Its getting dark now.” I walked with Rinoa back home and silently whispered, “thank you for bringing me her, Rinoa.” I was smiling as I was saying it. Rinoa looked at me, “is there something wrong Alter?”, she saw me smiling. “Nothing, its just the sunset looks beautiful and I like it”. Rinoa answered, “yes it is, Alter”. We both walk together into the beautiful, warm sunset.
