One in Paradise

My mind drifts away to some snowy mountain-top where the snow
glistens and shimmers like newfound diamonds. A cool breeze sweeps my
cheek and there I sit, no longer aware of my troubles, no longer aware
that tomorrow I will be no more.
I am flying again this time landing on a quiet beach. We're the only
one's there, you and I. We sit watching the sunset as we finish the
picnic we brought that afternoon. We skip rocks as we slowly walk back
to the car. Under the deck you take me in your arms for one soft kiss,
and then suddenly I am gone again.
Left in some jungle by a beautiful waterfall I sit, all alone,
listening to the sound of the crashing water and the birds singing in
the trees. I do not move, I feel it grow cold as the moon rounds the
sun and then warm again as the sun reclaims its place. How long I sit I
do not know, for my body will not move and I do not mind for I am
content.
All too soon I am swept away again, this time my eyes open to real
life. My last meal is placed before me, and as I silently eat I imagine
the flickering of lights that I had seen so often, the cold chill
running down my spine as I knew what it meant. Tomorrow it would be I
that would cause the cold chill to run down someone else's spine.
