His Craft

He sits all day - crafting, concocting
Measure here, hammer there,
Plan and cut, plan and cut.
By his own hands, his work is molded
He splits the wood with charm and a smile,
But later he must sand down all the impurities with force.
Plan and cut, plan and cut,
And finally - I do -
Believe it is done. The project is perfect.
And his wife smiles in agreement.
