Kekasihku ("Beloved")
Kekasihku, the empty days multiply,
the nights are fields of thorns of memories
and loss. Baffled by time and distance
my love could not sustain you, nor ease your pain;
your voice is stilled, no echo now remains
and you have turned away. Di mana kamu?
Kekasihku, I live in a haunted shell
where once you laughed and loved me:
the mating birds flute their calls on the hill,
the frogs taunt my loss with resonant calls
as evening comes and monsoon rain falls '
and you have turned away. Di mana kamu?
Kekasihku, when the northern seasons turn
the trees to flame; when you walk in summer
by the Great Lake; when the November winds
tease the first light flurries from the air,
think of me, for whom at last you could not care:
then turn away, content, dia dan kamu.
