Dedicated to those who were building a house in the
Croydon-cum-Clopton area between November 1993 and February 1994, the
wettest Autumn/Winter in 25 years.

"Into Each Life a Little Rain Must Fall, and Fall, and Fall, and Fall
?.."
Found a plot to erect a dwelling,
The weather turns. There's no telling.
Earth, rain - mud.
Clay, rain - flood.
Moist eyes, ankle deep.
Over knees, begin to weep.
Enough water to fill a moat.
Forget the house - build a boat!

Part Two
Living on the Job
In the caravan life's a grind,
Things are packed and hard to find.
Washing machine and ablutions in a shed,
It's wet and windy - I've a cold in the head.
Weekend's here, and it's bean on toast.
I could really murder a Sunday roast.
Round a friend's house for a bath or shower,
Back again to a loss of power.
Sit it out with candle on plate.
Be glad when it's over - I can't wait!
Daily to the forest for a pee,
Not the life for a delicate like me!
