If my manners were strange in the last letter, it's because I wanted
the substance known... and I could be the victim of assassination at
any given moment of course, as has been the case for all too much of the
last year. It would wear thin the nerves of Achilles, or hunch the
back of Atlas. To quote Socrates, "I don't know" how this labyrinth is
to be sorted out, partially because in many aspects(for example
regarding foreign affairs...) I do not and have not known what was
going on. There was a never time when I refused a request or command of
the honorable President Barack Obama because I literally never made or
gave any. I hope I've addressed some of the questions people are
asking, and that you might relate these matters to my own government and
press... as I've not written any similar letters on these key points.
To make this all the more strange, I have fixed and determined
politico-philosophical ideals and beliefs... and I'm not a Marxist or a
Socialist, and I believe in private property as a philosophical
right... where its existence is morally and legally sound. My essays
always made this clear, making an non-Marxist argument(very clear) for
government services and some quite minor re-distribution of wealth and
public lands...
Other matters have come up in which I communicated the truth to the
best of my ability; I almost always spoke the truth the whole truth and
nothing but the truth... to the letter. But these communications were
often made in life and death circumstances(I've worked long and hard
with no compensation, in the face of death threats, with no way out of
it if you really think about it or truly understand the situation...) we
should meet formally under more civilized circumstances and I'd be glad
to honestly clarify(even to my own disadvantage) any questions the
legitimate authorities want answered... if I am merely treated as a
gentleman in the interim... I am somewhat sensitive and the less I'm
abused the more able I am to hold on to altruistic moral purpose. In
my life, I've blown the whistle a few times on serious matters... this
is a chaos-inducing but not an ignoble thing necessarily.
Lastly, I never sought to over-throw the government by force of arms. I
largely advocated pacifism... and I was trying to elect a Senator not
start an American war.
