Eden Free for the Taking

My consciousness is like the desert of Southern Arizona
during a drought
none of the birds of confidence are out;
countless wildflowers are waiting to bloom in colors incredible
waiting for the life-giving rain
waiting
waiting

These eyes have seen too many sky-scrapers,
too many shiny, racing cars,
too many radiating screens
usually showing pettiness, greed, violence,
and other brain-washing, evil lies;

the very blue tranquillity of this suburban sky
is hourly cut with noisy airplanes,
ferocious dogs bark from behind windows,
and American flags fly as Iraqi children die.

Has the world gone insane?
Shall there be no cure, no peace, no rain?
I believe there can be
but not that there must be;
This is not an American movie;
many of the good people are ugly
and the end CAN be world destruction.

See the old gods were all lies,
and this knowledge can set us free,
but now we must realize
that there is a deity
with the power to slay in billions,
and he isn't a thousand feet tall
or infinitely good or wise;
he is only you, and I, and all.

Eden is ours for the taking
and Zion free for the making,
but let there be no mistaking...
we must rise with revolution's sun,
stop worshipping the gun,
lay aside world views done,
the idols of technocracy shun,
and re-immerse ourselves in Gaiia's creation.
