I'm waking in Utopia

I'm waking in Utopia. The old world, my old life, seem but a distant
dream entirely forgotten. The sky is robins' egg blue and I hear the
feminine chirping of a robin. I look out my window and see lush green
hills.
I reach into my coat pocket and pull out a bag of weed. I roll a joint
and light it up. I sit there contemplating abstract ideas while I
toke.
Just as I'm finishing my joint, I hear a knock at the door. "Come in,"
I say. In comes my good friend Erik. Tall and guant, he's nonetheless
good looking. He has very long brown, greasy hair and his eyes are
already bloodshot from smoking bud.
"It's a beautiful day out," he says in his deep voice, which oozes
confidence. I walk over to the CD player and put on Mozart's "Don
Giovani."
I'm starting in on his Shakespeare lesson. He's amazed to learn how
cool and daring Hamlet was.
I read to him, "Nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so."
"I was never inclined much to thinking," he says with a smirk.
"I'll help you out," I say with a smile that hides nothing. We continue
to work through the play, my trying to keep my explanations
short.
When we're done with Hamlet, we smoke another joint. I'm not feeling
any nausea or laziness. I just feel high, lifted up. The Shakespeare
portrait on my wall seems to turn into Shakespeare himself. I smile
complacently at his conservative face pierced by a jaded earing. His
face is a perfect pattern and the opera voices sing perfectly to the
pattern. Shakespeare is a civilized beast perfectly in accord with the
laws of the universe.
"Are you ready for your tennis lesson?," Erik asks me. Though thin from
years of drug use, Erik is superhumanly athletic. I smile at him and
grab the tennis bag. I'm looking forward to the duel on the courts. I
look forward to learning the spiritual art of tennis from him.
We're walking out my door into the dark green grass. The hot sun
greeted us. I don't need nothin'. There's nothin' left to do. I'm
thinking of Utopia and thinking makes it so.
