Ode to the City

It is something I celebrate:

The City, this great Platonic City that

to quote Ginsberg

is everywhere and all about us:

skyscrapers and strip bars,

factories and laboratories,

gasoline rainbows,

conspiratorial parks,

university snarks,

and the great 'hydrogen jukebox'

of the collective consciousness of clusters of cosmopolises

contracting and expanding, 

the municipal manifestation of the great mysteries,

what obscure, erudite Buddhists call 

'the inutterables.'
