Statement of Beliefs

           The social safety net is dear to my heart, and has been integral to the message that brought me to prominence.  It is a reflection of our status as civilized humans- citizens in God's glorious kingdom.  America is great and rich: rich in wealth, bravery and power: rich in art, mercy and humanity.  Soon we'll again be rich and first in manufacturing.

          I have always been about issues, solutions, and about shaking up the status quo- especially the political status quo.  I've always been willing to do worthy work with just about any one-  and frankly I've always been about compromise.  

            Not to be over-critical of our wonderful public servants, but the inability to strike a deal on issues like health care, has often led to what journalists call 'gridlock' in the world's greatest deliberative body.  If we have an urgency about accomplishing something in a process with competing interests, it is simply common sense that compromise is needed.

            Because of what I believe, I identify as an independent Democrat, but I've gotten to know President Trump a bit, and having taken time to contemplate his direction and his proposals, I like a lot of what I see.  I feel IT would be good for America and good for our prosperity-  It remains my fervent hope that a slightly greater share of this prosperity will flow outward to the poor, and to the sick and disabled.
