on "the will to govern"

In my opinion, "liberal" and "conservative:" "democrat" and "republican" are increasingly meaningless terms. The leadership that facilitates capitalism facilitates middle class jobs and standard of living. If politicians stand in the way of middle and working class jobs, or even an excessive social safety net, they'll be limited by our electoral system. Neither party is particularly secure, effective, or willing to take daring outside-the-box steps. Obama has some level of stardom and trust because he's reached a minimal level of these things. But only "minimal."
The true meaningful term here is "will to govern." For example, Obama doesn't need to protect his base of women, minorities, and the young. IF he really wants to be America's president, go after old white men: especially ones with money, and persuade them that A.) He doesn't intend a massive re-distribution of wealth or a socialistic economy(Nuclear power alone can create abundant wealth, anyway, to "save" future generations from health-care.) B.) that his faction is willing to FIGHT for victory, with every tool available. For example, Obama's made virtually no use of executive commands: when the media sees things happening and becoming law, they have positive news and they know who's in charge. Otherwise, they perpetually analyze to see who's winning the "politics," and who made a gaffe. No, a true leader lets his gaffes become maxims by explaining them.
Most people, however rich or sophisticated, primarily want to follow in the realm of government, if only because they don't want to take the work and privations of office and the spot-light. On the T.V., we have a fierce and grid-locked fight. In reality, we have a bunch of rich and cynical old people playing political frisbee.
Keep in mind, I'm not endorsing. I'm merely pointing out some little known political truths that apply to anyone who wants to govern the U.S.A. If my message isn't pretty or humorous or even perfectly ethical, keep in mind that(like Machiavelli or the Fabulous fab,) I'm just one of the guys who writes it down. I'm merely speaking of the same principles of power that have operated for millenia. If you speak of the constitution, remember that that document was only intended for propertied white men and clearly allows me to own a tank or ten tanks(arms.) Do you want a power-hungry devil like me to have ten-tanks or anything more sweeping that "arms" means? The constitution has all sorts of holes and hasn't been followed for centuries("states rights" went the way of Trotskyism.) But they don't say so on T.V. or the newspapers, and so it isn't reality.
But then people start writing it down. And one faction or another emerges with a passionate and unstoppable will to govern.
