I think I'm a bit in love
with you
you, who I see
through mist
and rubble
and smoke-filled
craters
walking towards me
dusty-uniformed
glowing brightly
your Officer's cap
angled just right
smiling as you
pick me up
and run with me
through red-dotted fields
newly sprouting
over the scars
of battle-grounds
already passed
into a sunset future
where the child-me
who has no name
no relatives
would time-travel
just to meet you
to know you
to love and be loved
and to have you
live your short life
all over again
only this time
with no fighting
no wars
just come
to me through
the mist and rubble
and take me to
the grassy banks
of Fromelles
from whence you
came in dreams
one night
allow me that

Just popped back for another read and to say thank you for such a lovely comment - getting praise for my writing is one thing, but to get it for my personality and mothering capabilities is quite another! Bless you, Coral - I think you're fantastic, too! ;o)
