Worshiper

She has skin that’s never been
Touched by light
Hardened porcelain
Forged in the dead of night
She has a glow all her own
A harsh white hue
Warmer than fires I’ve ever known
Yet somehow colder too
And I will follow her
Where ever she may lead me
A hungry, humble worshiper
To a goddess who will not feed me
She is a fluid force
An ocean of indifference
Yet her beauty has me stay the course
Drowning and gasping for deliverance
She never thinks of me
This I know
Above me like the sun she’ll be
Where blinded I burn below
And I will follow her
Where ever she may lead me
A hungry, humble worshiper
To a goddess who will not feed me
She smiles and I feel homeless
Left to wander a parched landscape
Her touch leaves me boneless
With a thirst I can’t alleviate
She is the lasting day
I am the fleeting moment
Her love is a sinner’s way
For which I won’t seek atonement
And I will follow her
Where ever she may lead me
A hungry, humble worshiper
To a goddess who will not feed me
