He painted landscapes
and birds in a minor key.
No prissy, purple finches...
but birds ever seeking
to nest in the desolate
dustbowl of the inner eye....
eagles on the island crowns,
and gray on gray-blue
herons turning their backs
on cubist composition...
shapes and shades
of the misty terrain
of the Skagit Valley
flap through veils
from slough to slough...
the melancholic forests
of the Northwest –
moon-birds of the spirit,
singing in dimensions
still to be invented.

I feel like I've seen this
I feel like I've seen this painting now, Tina. You have used delicate description that captures subtle shades, movement and a dreamlike musical mood. You paint with words.
Loved this.

I think scratch will like
I think scratch will like this if he reads it Tina - he's a one for the birds. This works terrifically well, pared down and great language. :)
