Brown-Skinned Boy...

Hold me by the hand – lead
me to that place where happy endings
never end...only give me things
I can depend on;
red wine – old times,
good friends...a CD playing...
a song, sung by an olive-skinned boy;
Something Inside, So Strong,
on repeat.
And when you’re gone
I’ll watch a dragonfly settle
on a leaf;
bronze on bronze –
the scent of you lingering
on my cheek –
and alone I shall be in that sea
of desire, but only as a boat,
long ago, abandoned
is lonely...rising and falling
with the whim of the tide
and yet, not ever
knowing it.

Hi Tina.
Hi Tina.
I thought the boat at the end fitted in so well with the drifting feeling of this piece. It's almost prayerful in its tranquility and flows with some beautiful rhymes. I could hear the song.
Loved this poem, which for some reason, I almost missed.

I haven't thought of him for
I haven't thought of him for a long time. I used to love Labi Siffre when I was a child. Just had a listen to that track on YouTube - thanks for that, Tina.
