You can’t always have what you wish for,
but what I wish for you in the coming year
I hope comes true; that it will be filled
with a special kind of magic; dreams
for following, even more so, the closer
you become – aspirations to work toward...
something to get up for each new day,
spritzed with a ditzy kind of madness,
and may you find good books to read...
fine poems, gripping novels – biographies
that make you cry, with a friend, close by,
to dry your eyes...do, at least, one something
that makes you feel proud – meet someone
thinks you stand out from the crowd, and hope
sometime, somehow, in the year ahead,
you surprise yourself.

Actually, Wes, for the first eight to nine years of my life, that was literally all I wanted for Christmas. My first front teeth came through decayed, and I had to have them out when I was three years old. I still remember it. A nasty ordeal, especially in the fifties. No sophisticated anaesthetics then. I'm glad to say, my 'grown-up' front teeth are still alive and kicking, and I'm hanging on to them for dear life;-) Tina
