Lovers Avenue

Vehement – dreamy lovers
we ambled the leafy avenue
hand in hand...enveloped by
a canopy of arching trees,
we marvel at their complex system,
as branches zigzag and bow...creating
an umbrella of shade...where birds trill
out their pleasing – melodic songs,
shafts of brightness emit glistening jewels
of sunlight...flickering like stars through
quivering leaves...hypnotising our senses
as we stroll the sun kissed shadows.
My arm snakes the curves of your slender waist,
as that half moon smile lights up those dimpled
cheeks, we two souls both in tune...no words are
needed just a simple touch...then my heart melts.

Hi Jenny.
Hi Jenny.
I really enjoyed this. It's a happy read that for some reason, also left me feeling sad for the past. A very beautiful picture, well written.

I liked it too. I liked the half moon smile and the captured memory. Is it the word vehement at the beginning that makes it a little sad? Just a little. Catherine

This is cetainly rich in compact descriptiions, Jenny. I especially like the middle 2 stanzas describing the structure and effects of the complex branch tunnel. Rhiannon

Hello Jenny. Not really sad - just thought the 'vehement' might make it ambiguous in the way of trying to believe it. But what you said makes sense. Bristol quite warm and just walked miles home from work - up some very tree-filled streets! Catherine

This is just so pretty and serene, Jenny. The images of the tree struck me, too, like a complex universe of their own.
Is it for this week's I.P? Just a thought, it should be because it fits right in.

I understand the feeling of
I understand the feeling of sentimentality other readers felt after finishing this work; your writing is very engaging, so upon finishing and becoming suddenly aware of yourself again, the imagery remains for us to mull over but the presence of the moments you described is lost to the real world.
Sorry, this comment makes sense in my head! Essentially, I mean to say I liked it!
