The Comb
I saw a man in my yard
He looks weary, and tired
He stands there as if he's on guard
He dresses in black and carries, an old sack
He stands there all day in the hot sun
Some folks say he's an old bum
I decided to get brave
So I ventured his way
What a dreadful sight I saw
He was my grand . . . pa
He said child this is from your grandma
He handed me a comb
It was the same one I had lost in their home
I grabbed my head and said
This can't be happening you're both dead
The tears formed in his eyes
We both started to cry
He picked up his sack
He said I won't be coming back
I yelled Grandpa please don't go
I miss you, and Grandma so
He set his sack down, and turned around
He said child look in your heart for in there we're not apart
My eyes flew open, and I jumped out of the swing
And my heart started to sing
In my lawn laid an old sack
Inside was an old comb it was jet black
I thought I would have a heart attack...
