Married at eighteen
Divorced at twenty
And the time inbetween
She saw plenty
That she promised she’d never see again
She left her town of birth
Left her demons behind
It felt like leaving earth
She set herself a target
To find out what she’s worth
She moved to a market town
Found it easier to hide
Rented a flat with a garden
Grew herself some pride
And all her guilt was pardoned
Her dark past dead and cold
Her life was all afloat
She felt so brave and bold
So she bought herself a boat
And called it The Rosemary Soul
And she sailed on the canals of England
And she counted all the stars
And she lived till she was eighty five
And she never felt so alive.
