Breathing lightly floating in limbo
Laughing to yourself no one can hear
From your window you see
Other people’s history
They grow slower than you
But they move much faster
The smell of flowers
Has long since disappeared
The clock on the wall
Watches itself
And your search for a metaphor
Ends with a fly in a spiders web
Switch the light on switch the light off
Look for sleep that’s not looking for you
Stare at a book you’re not really reading
Push the food across your plate
Make a noise to prove you’re still here
The traffic always passes you by
Like life these days…..
