He's laughing it off
with a joke and a smile
avoiding the truth
all the while.
He's not lying,
he's not saying anything,
he's hiding behind laughter
at his attempts to sing
and his impressions of
Bruce Forsythe
all eyes are on him
..'to see you nice'
He's got all the attention
and none of the fame,
no one really knows
how well he plays this game
of avoidance
and denial
and just how easy
it is for him to crack a smile,
pretend he's happy,
pretend everything's okay
making faces
and
finding something funny to say
when the truth is much darker
and he's really someone else
but he jokes and laughs
and denies it from himself.
