A disciple who wanted to study the art of Zen went to the
teacher and at the end of the course discovered that he learn't
nothing. As he was about to embark his journey which others call
proliferating life, he beckoned to the master why he never spoke? The
master beckoned with his hands as though telling him to get lost. As he
neared the gates, he could hear a great hand clap; looking backwards he
found the master using his finger as a sign of silence. On leaving the
gates, the disciple gazed at the sign of the master and its silence. As
he started walking, he saw the twilight leaves flurry through incessant
breathing of spirit. Suddenly, with some hesitation he turned back and
saw the robe just about to disappear! He raised his hands and clapped.
As the soon as the master turned back he drew a sign that the master
had drawn, of its silence
