Just in case

Just in case I go away,
And leave you all behind,
I just want everyone to know,
You'll still be on my mind,
Despite all of my long term plans,
And places far to go,
The wind will still cry out your names,
The clouds will often show,
Your faces living out your days,
Where happiness is rife,
But please do not forget me and
My humble little life,
All of your quirks I'll always keep,
Wrapped up inside my heart,
Think of them every day and night,
And just here I will start:
All of you can make me laugh,
At times I need it most,
And jokes you told still funny,
While I'm trekking down the coast,
Poking fun is common ground,
Lord knows I did it too,
It never left a sour taste,
While it never did with you,
Driving in my car or walking,
Miles and miles we went,
Hearing all each others problems,
That young lives had sent,
Overcomeing them with you,
Was always a delight,
And when we couldn't solve them,
Well at least we'd talked all night,
And serious though they may be,
We'll fight through thick and thin,
I'm sure we'll see another day,
As light comes creeping in,
Breaking into high society was
Always in our sights,
And I for one remember,
All those crazy summer nights,
Where we were odd ones out through choice,
With Sainsbury's cheapy wine,
Talking of "sweet yesteryear",
While rosey cheeks did shine,
And in our pub where pictures stared,
At us from all the walls,
We'd always put world to rights,
Cause' all the rest are fools,
And sometimes when we'd sit and stare,
From on our river bank,
Laughing joking once again and
Again our sunshine sank,
And on the cloudless muggy nights,
When stars come out to play,
I think of looking at them,
From a vantage far away,
And as I do the tear pricks at
The corner of my eye,
"I'll miss you when I'm gone", I say,
Voice heavy with a sigh.
