Summer's End

autumn hues insinuate themselves
upon the unsuspecting rump of summer
warm colours for a cool season
clear air, cold amplitude, completion

cows, sheep and horses
stand upright in vivid space
or sit and occupy thier place
in the order of things
without complaint or praise

today is a day for being
tomorrow the changes will come
