Three Words

Once upon a time
In a land so very near
There lived a certain woman
Three words she longed to hear
But her hopes were always empty
Her dreams were all in vain
Instead of three words bringing joy
Their absence brought her pain
So she carried on in silence
Her desires did go ignored
When she heard others get her wish
Her heart was broke and sore
She once would talk about it
But her claim would be denied
"You know how much I care for you"
He looked at her and lied
His way of sparking passion
Made that lie so very clear
A grope, a grab, sometimes a slap
And a demand for more cold beer
Had it always been this way?
It had seemed to happen slow
The last time that he'd said those words
She does not even know.
After years of such frustration
A life of bitter tears
She gives up on her simple dream
It's hopelessness she fears...

In my life I've seen many women starve for love and many men totally
ignore their needs... this poem is about nobody in particular and yet
everyone in general... As all my writing is, this is dedicated to that
sweet woman I care for so much... God forbid a day should ever pass
without me saying those three words to you... I Love You... so very,
very much...
