I had a dream last night

I had a dream last night
Where I walked down my road
A truck grunted past, then a car pulled up
I thought it nothing and trudged on by
But was caught in my tracks by a sweet nostalgic voice
'Robert, Robert', her tone had come back
Drifting on the wind like pollen to a plant.
I turned and stopped, I saw her run
We met in the middle and stood without words
I leaned in for a kiss, or even a touch
But fell down in the muck, hair over my face
Her image was gone, like a daffodil after spring Confined to my mind, forever a wish.
