Transcend Emotion
Tracing hopeless fingers across your rough-edged back,
I no longer even say 'I love you'.
As in the half-abandoned ruins of yesterday's passion,
I, I try to remember your name.
Holding on to your body a little bit longer,
Will I ever feel your flesh again?
Transcend emotion, don't fall for the hype;
Transcend emotion, don't beg for your life.
Love slave, are you looking for a master;
Love slave, do you know what you're after?
Squeezing every ounce of pleasure,
I want to take it all in one day.
I want this sensation forever,
Does it have to end this way?
Later we make tea and conversation,
Talk about the price of bread and bacon.
Pretend it hasn't happened,
And quietly put the animal to sleep.
Transcend emotion, don't fall for the hype;
Transcend emotion, don't beg for your life.
Love slave, are you looking for a master;
Love slave, do you know what you're after?
I see you two weeks later,
Our mouths just saying words;
We haven't added up.
You know what you want,
You know what I've got,
And love was not
The bridge in-between.
