A Heart That Gave

By treacle

A heart that gave
everything it could,
lies hardened and cold

Its very core is
broken and twisted,
it's weary it feels old.

Too much pain
and hurt, too many lies,
it just couldn't take the strain.

Will time heal
this broken mess?
Will it ever love again?
