Life Happens

I was looking in the bathroom mirror the other day and got
the shock of my life it was my Mama staring back at me. I looked so
much like her that I turned around real quick to see if she was
standing behind me.
The strange part of this is I
never looked like her or her side of the family.I was told from the
beginning that I looked like the Newtons and they had pictures to prove
it. After looking at my Daddys, Mother in a photo I had to agree I
looked just like her.Now in my late fifties I am my
Mama.
There were no great beauties in our family I
guess we all cleaned up nice enough.Mama, was beautiful where it
counted on the inside. She didn't have a waist she was the same size
top, middle, and bottom. Not one of us girls had an hour glass figure
we looked more like grandfather clocks. It would take a strong wind to
blow us over.
I was always wiry and thinner than the
rest of my sisters now all that's gone, I look just like Mama and every
woman in my age group. We are all stumpy, thick, with short graying
hair, and glasses. I hope I'm never in a line-up where an eye witness
has to pick a criminal out of a bunch of sixty year old women, the odds
of picking the right one would be next to
impossible.
You hear things growing up that stick
with you I guess this one is true, if you want to know what your future
wife is going to look like in a few years, take a look at her Mother.
See nothing ever changes not for long anyway I spent most of my young
life trying to be different but I never was I was just fooling myself
and waiting for that magic age when I turned into Mama. Now I'm trying
to work on the beauty that's inside and hoping one day before I die to
hear someone say look at her, she's just like her Mama.
