Initial thoughts on the Piers Morgan baby reindeer interview

The woman Martha is based on should never have been sent to prison instead she should’ve been referred to a mental health assessment unit.
She is clearly mentally ill and in need of treatment which would much more adequately have been taken care of either on a DOLs ( deprivation of libertys intervention) or a section under the mental health act.
In this country rather than concurring on mental health treatment we put people on show like a 19th-century freakshow on the television what does this say about our society?
I would further my question by asking shouldn’t mental health assessment also be part of judicial law. Especially in cases of clear mental impairment.
This is a vulnerable adult we are dealing with here , she may well have a criminal history of stalking but this is indicative of her warped sense of reasoning rather than any true criminal inclination.
Baby reindeer is a fictionalised account of what happened and not a documentary account in which the filmmakers would’ve been held accountable for factual truths presented. We have no proof of the assaults that were carried out by Martha , we only have Richard Gadd dramatic presentation which is compelling but we do not know its validity.
Remember this is a fictitious account that has been presented on Netflix of two people who have suffered extreme trauma in their lives in what way is it in the public interest to put someone Who is clearly delusional under such public scrutiny ?
At the end of the series the final scene contains Richard Gadds revelation that Martha has undergone a similar type of trauma to his own .
This should call into question our response to the story rather than causing a national witch hunt for those suffering mental health trauma
