la Sagrada Familia

Christ has pushed his face into the apron of stone
its impression hangs there still
to grace the entrance cone
six sinews of stone
tethered to the earth
they meet,meld into a sill
to frame his overarching arms
praises drip in white ceramic tongues
from a clear blue sky
etched slabs of bronze
proclaim His son's
birth,life and death
the carved figures stare, sweat and cry
a chorus of petrified song.
Inside the melody is hushed
stone branches bear
a ceiling of exploding flowers flush
with stars that spring from treetops and push
life into the dusty air
God is a living creature at home in his lair
teasing blossom from stone
His breath melts rock
His fingers twist and curl
bricks and mortar mock
the straight and solid air and rock
the earth's foundations loosening
her coiled tendrils coaxing them to unfurl
out they slither and calcify beneath his watchful eye.
