She keeps her muse trapped in a pair of green earmuffs
Her smile on a hook on the wall
She puts on the first, pastes on the second
and exits the house in a crawl
Her breath clouds the air with pale rose-colored fire
Her heels leave jade prints on the moon
She gets on the back of a hot tempered dragon
and nudges him on with a spoon
She puts the spoon back in her pocket
Croons to the dragon to stop
Her heels make a click on the dirty gray sidewalk
She extinguishes the fire with a pop.
She unglues her big smile, takes off the muffs
and removes her muse with unease
A diamond shaped tear now glints on her cheek
as she says, "Can I take your order please?"
