The Sweetest Story

Behind my smile a tempest rages.
As I try to pound my way from my skull
Tear free and crawl from my skin.
But I'm no snake, and I'm trapped.
Deep inside beyond imagination
Where a pain festers and slithers
Through my veins, heart and bones.
Bound by my flesh I scream.
So loud, but nobody can hear me cry
You can't see behind my incarceration.
But someday, I'll lie still on the path
And wait for the raven to peck my eyes out.
