Joy in Dull Grey Streets

Rain falls, pattering
A steady beat into
The music, totally
Alien in the grey.
The rain bounces
Off the street,
In a boundless dance.
A figure, dressed in
Old fashion grey,
To match the rain
Soaked streets, every
Motion of her dance
Dressed in joy to
Match the music.
Arms spread wide,
Face and hands turned
To the sky, as
She turns in her
Ragged dress and shawl,
Her laugher echoing
Over the joy filled music,
Happy, joyful, bright.
Despite the rain and
Grey of the world,
Her black-shoed feet,
Dance through the puddles,
Splashing water, not
Caring about the wet.
The Joy is contagious.
As she dances,
Bright-eyed, happy,
Through the grey,
Wet streets,
People step out
The towering grey buildings,
Brightly clad, shining
Out against the grey.
Cheering up the dreary
Day. The grey-clad
Figure is lost in the
Brightness. Disappearing
In the wave of Joy.
It's nice to think,
That joy can exist,
In such a dreary world.
