1.
Upon an island, far away
there lived a little girl and boy
who used to run and laugh and play
but the poor children had no toys.
2.
And so they wrote to Santa Clause
and, in a bottle, put their note
then threw it in the sea, because
they hoped, to Santa, it would float.
3.
And then they ran to tell their mum.
“We wrote to Santa Clause”, they said,
“Oh momma do you think he’ll come
to our island upon his sled?”.
4.
“Not on his sled. That’s made for snow”,
their wise mother, to them, replied,
“He’ll come upon a boat, I know
and, through the sky, his boat will glide”.
5.
And then, on a warm Christmas eve,
just as their Mother said, it came;
a flying boat, would you believe,
“The Good Ship Santa Clause”, its name.
6.
A team of reindeer pulled its oars,
that is how the strange vessel flew.
It’s captain was old Santa Clause
and little elves made up its crew.
7.
And stowed within its cargo hold
were lots of sweets and games and toys,
tied with red bows and wrapped in gold;
bright gifts for little girls and boys.
8.
Then when the two children arose,
they leapt and laughed and smiled with glee
for they found parcels tied with bows
of red under their Christmas tree.
9.
And there they found their bottle too
and, inside it , a note, they saw.
“Here are some presents just for you”,
it read, “From Captain Santa Clause”.
