Benjamin Douglass or Ben for short is a native New Yorker. He had just broken up with his girlfriend of 8 years who is dating a jerk. Ben is looking for a new place to live after moving out of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. While walking at 11:15pm, a light surrounded Ben and was no longer in New York.
After waking up from a bump on the head while teleportation, Ben had deducted that he was unconscious for 4 earth hours. A probe had greeted Ben in English after getting up from the ground. “Welcome to the Intergalactic Dating Game on Planet Quintara”.
“The Princess Alera is selecting a suitable boyfriend. If you are selected, you will head home. If not, you will die”. Ben had decided to not waste any more time asking questions since it was already answered. He followed the probe to a room with 4 spotlights on each individual. There were 3 candidates: One had the arms of an Octopus and bad body order, the next one was so physically fit but had lacked any personality, and the final one was a charmer and had sinister motives.
The First candidate went first and answered the questions, but was rude and had spoken negative, disrespectful language and was vaporized. The second candidate was next. His physique didn’t save him from being vaporized that had befallen his predecessors. Candidate #3 had smiled at Ben and boasted that he will be the winner. He didn’t succeed either.
All 3 candidates were gone. The spotlights had gone out except Ben’s. The probe’s voice was the one who was heard. “Benjamin Douglass of Earth comes forward.” Ben had no choice to comply or die because his life had depended on it. The voice said “You must answer all 3 questions truthfully or you will be vaporized.” Ben had waited for the probe to speak.
“What creates a successful relationship?” Ben’s response was “When there is trust, respect, and and love between 2 individuals.” The next question had come. The Probe’s voice responded “Excellent. You will proceed to the next question.” Silence followed. “What do you seek in a mate?” Confused by the question, Ben decided to answer it quickly.
“There are people who want to get married immediately. Knowing a person first is important because you don’t want to rush and know about the other person’s likes and dislikes. I want someone who shares my interests, supportive, and appreciates me for who I am not what possessions and wealth I which I have.”
“You will still proceed to the final answer.” replied the Probe. The humming sound from the probe computed the final answer. “What do you want from your mate?”
Ben closed his eyes and then opened his eyes. “I want someone to love. Life is miserable if you have no one to share it with you both good times and bad times”. Complete silence fills the dark room. 2 minutes pass and the Probe responds: “That is correct”.
The Probe leaves the room and suddenly, the room lights up and the spotlight on Ben had went out. The room was large and a woman who had the body of a Victoria’s Secret Model, had long Green Hair and her skin tone was the color Mocha. She also had a beautiful smile.
“Greetings Benjamin Douglass of Earth, my name is Princess Alera from the Planet Quintara. Welcome.” Ben immediately responded to her. “Thank you Princess, call me Ben.” And he also smiled back.
Princess Alera had invited Ben to Breakfast which is similar to Earth and feels like home.

I like this story. It is
I like this story. It is short and sweet, which is okay. you could alternatively flesh it out with more background on the people who failed to be chosen and why that might have been. You could perhaps gp further into the new relationship with the princess to find out what she is really like and what was unsuitable about the failed candidates. Is our lead character home and dry in terms of survival, or has he more hurdles to cross before he can relax? Will he be the princess's soul mate, or will there be difficulties in the new life which awaits him.
There is a lot in this story which could be built upon. I could foresee this developing into a novel or a film potentially (although marketing anything is always unlikely to succeed in this oversaturated world of the arts), or it is good as it is, a short story.
