Edge of the cliff

Here and now
is scruffy
but there'll be no visitors and our nest is warm
it shapes the you and me of us
gives us form.
Sometimes
half of me likes to hang out of bed for a moment counting the
cold
feeling we'll always be together
but you know how it is
land drops unnoticed
sod by sod off the edge of the cliff
when noone is watching
because the air is empty and the night's so big
something can snap
which would otherwise be subsiding gently
and cottages
just drop off
whole homes can slip !
Thats why the other half of me will sometimes cry in these grey
hours
remembering our walk
and hold you to me in an iron
maybe unattractive grip.
