If love were all alone
In spirit and in truth
Hate and anguish banished
If old and young were
proof
If the world could see bright colours
Soft-spoken words were read
If love was all alone
What comfort for the dead.
If love was
all alone
And prospered in this land
The hand that
heals all sorrows
Like the winds of time has fled
Dim eyes can only wonder
Of a promise yet to come
When the cold embers of this life
Are blest by
radiant sun
If love was all alone
