DREAD DON'T COME

Dread don't come
It all began
Six months ago
Not long ago
Read a poem
On national TV
At home
A friend
From Edinburgh
Saw me
Not only
Sounded but
Spread
Alarm bells
Said
He could
Only see my ears
He asked
Where
Is the rest
Of his body?
Somewhat
This was echoed
By everybody
They said
Looks
Like someone else
Pity
I became
Benchmark for
Thiness
Worried
Hurried
Not home
But
To the hospital
Battery
Of tests done
Results
Positive
Doctor & myself
Satisfied
Came to London
Family
Were worried
Dread don't come
Saw my GP
Again
Battery
Of tests carried
Nothing
The matter
Results positive
Made
Me feel better
Mystery
Of loosing weight
Not yet unravelled
Dread don't come
Family
Still worried
Once this mystery
revealed
My family
And me
Will see
Me as me
But thinner
Looking
Trim & better
Friends over here
Say
Look fitter
Young & trimmer
The right size
For my height & age
Suits me
Looking my age
'coz
It is
The right image
Over there
The thinner
The sicker
The fatter
The better
Dread don't go
Gave way
To hope
And
Welcome
To
The image
Of long ago
