RAIN ON CORRUGATED ZINC ROOF
Dozed
Thought I heard
A sound
Sounds like
A knock
Incessant
Yet Pleasant
Not human sound
But natural
Rhythmic
Like soft music
A beat of
Talking drum
Was reminded by mum
Rain is falling
On the Corrugated
Zinc roof
Proof
Of the nostalgia
Mum told me
This rain on the
Corrugated
Zinc roof brings
For it was
My lullaby
As a baby
Whenever I cried
I thoroughly enjoyed
The drops, droplets
That often fell on the
Corrugated zinc roof
Intermingled
With hail large & small
Sounds like someone
Systematically
Pelting the zinc roof
With stones
Large & small
My siblings and I
Longed for the rain
The sound of hail
Large and small
Feast on the popcorn
That pops up
When we woke up
Burning fire wood
keeping the room
And us warm
Before we eat our food
Those of you
Who have not
Experienced
The enjoyable rain
On corrugated
Zinc roof
Just imagine
You are taking a nap
High up
Gentle but sometimes
Rough
Torrential rain
Is falling
On simulated
Zinc roof
I assure you
You will have
Sound sleep
And this will
Be your proof
