Shadows & Ghosts: Unfinished Story(2)
Misery Tribulation
Hunger, exhaustion
Thirst
Near death
He thought
Was all in the past
Free from his depth
Despair & filth
Pictured himself
Nameless , rootless
Beyond himself
Forced to leave
The
Story unfinished
Adventure
Of an asylum seeker
Unwanted
His gruesome journey
Through unforgiving desert
Cracked fields & deep valley
Scorched earth
Devoid of vegetation or water
Thirsty earth
Somehow ended up in Calais
Took a day
To cross the channel
Doggy paddle
Was the way
Mr X,the asylum seeker
Got part of his way
A gentle soul
Glanced at this emaciated
Semblance
Of a human being
A human cell
Pitied him
Shocked
To see his frightened face
Volunteered
To take him ashore
Mr X ,thanked his lucky star
For those who couldn't swim
Their dead bodies
Were washed ashore
The kindred spirit
Arranged his transport
Arrived in a big metropolis
Confused
With flurry of activities
In an island of white faces
Saw few dots of black faces
Engulfed by fear
Asked myself
Did I gamble my life?
Why am I here
Am I in the right place?
Among these white faces?
Did not wait for an answer
Answered it himself
He said
My life was full of strife
Have sacrificed enough
Hit by agonising reality
Dropped near the vicinity
Was told is the Home Office
Thought was going home
So soon , he thought
Didn't know was an office
An interview room
Tried to calm himself
Approached the entrance
Presented his tattered self
Guard had a lightning look
Refused him entry
Didn't like his look
Cursed his luck
Remembered his skills
Persuasive skills
It worked
Was now admitted
Told to take his seat
Soon fell asleep
First time
He had decent sleep
Only to be awakened
When his name was called
Went to a room
Marked interview room
Was big & clean but
Reminded him of
The dingy room
Back home
Where he was tortured
Was marked , the same
Interview/interrogation room
The officer
Introduced himself
Asked him to do the same
Narrated his ordeals
Sorrowful tales
Did not take much time
For the officer
Gave his decision
Said
Incredible story
But might deny you entry
Will investigate
Left him in a limbo
Didn't know what to do
Was in a state
Good samaritan saw him
Pitied him
Took him home
Gave him a roof over his head
Gave him relief of mind
Served him mouth-watering food
Filled his tummy
Quenched his thirst
Received temporary respite
Didn't take him long
Slept like a log
But was violently awakened
By an outside commotion
Siren sounded
Thought was an ambulance
But was armed police
Pushed their way in
Told him to dress up
Frghtened
Instantly got up
Dressed
Did not take him time
Put on his tattered clothes
Looked almost naked
Pushed into a van
Police drove off
To an unknown
Destination
To a place far off
