Anthrax, a Layman's Viewpoint

Anthrax is a bacterial strain that occurs naturally in soil and in a
vast majority of both wild and domesticated animals. Anthrax is
generally innocuous to humans in its natural existence.
This is due to the fact that copious amounts of the bacterial strain
have to come in contact with humans or inhaled to be potent and hence
threatening to human life.
The disease is clinically non-contagious. However, the disease is
generally fatal 90\\\\\% of the time if not treated before a patient
becomes symptomatic.
In a natural habitat, anthrax is known to be a major cause of death
among wild animals. This disease can kill violently and on short notice
upon passage of incubation stage.
These deadly microbes do not discriminate on a victim's body mass. It
kills equally fast -- may it be an elephant or a cricket for that
matter.
Deduction: Mailing anthrax to innocent people is certainly not a
picnic!
