When Love Slips Away

As the night draws near
and the birds start singing,
I see the moonlight come
from the blue skies of heaven.
In the middle of the night,
A rude awakening of terror,
Thunderous terror of emptiness
As loneliness sets in hastily
And I know she isn't near me.
That lovely morning kiss gone,
But the beam of light infiltrates
The room darkened by her absence.
When morning comes I'm sad.
Love has slipped away untraceable;
Only God holds me with glory.
