The forest wears its coat
of green stretching into
the distance,
the water breaks and
curls around the island
rolling onto some land,
the sea's spray hugs the
Easter Island Heads who
are tall enough to reach
the starry sky;
this is the world that they
once lived in.
Their extraordinary beauty
and height astonish me,
staring at me with life in
their eyes,
which is impossible and it must
be otherwise the other people
would have noticed the black
pools twinkle,
because the dead can never
forget.

Hello Beeme, this work is very nice. Remember, writing is a lifetime of achieving, as one develops their niche. I am accused by some as having phrases written too tightly. I don't agree, since that is me, and in my writing, I try to eliminate as many "The's" as I can. All the best, Richard LP
