The Student's March

This is a sort of response to a couple of pieces, including "The Student" by Ted Kooser, "My Papa's Waltz" by Theodore Roethke, and a few others.
It’s silly
really.
I’m a girl –
one out of thousands – at this school.
And I know this is where you
look
to find yourself; an I-Spy book.
I know
that even when you’re lost,
believing that you’re all alone,
when it seems like there’s nothing
left,
there is.
You
ask me to tell you my life,
I think
how there are
all of these
new people
and all of these endless possibilities.
I can remember feeling lost and
found all at the same time.
How is that
possible?
Well that is how this
all works out;
just like it is the real world
now.
‘Cuz all I wanted is right here.
And college is my greatest (No!) feat.
It’s scary and exciting and
liberating.
It’s not
high school anymore,
It’s the real deal.
